SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18
NO KINGS | DEFEND DEMOCRACY PROTEST
10:00 - 11:30 AM
ASSEMBLY & welcome IN The Corte Madera TOWN PARK BEHIND THE COMMUNITY CENTER, thereafter PROTEST AT the
TAMALPAIS Dr / MADERA BLVD INTERSECTION, or the TAMALPAIS/EASTMAN intersection in front of the Community center
Greetings Activists,
If we want to live in a country where free speech is not infringed and protesters are not considered domestic terrorists then our free speech and right to protest must be vigorously protected. We are seeing in real time how far Trump will go to silence opposition by waging war on Americans in democratic cities and states and by making direct attacks on those who exercise their free speech rights and dare to oppose his authoritarian rule.
After willfully shutting down the government Trump and the Republicans in the House and Senate are now poised to fire even more federal employees in an attempt to force Democrats to cave to their demands.
PLEASE JOIN US ON OCTOBER 18th TO RAISE YOUR VOICE LOUDLY AND CLEARLY TO SAY THAT WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE SILENCED, INTIMIDATED OR RULED BY AN AUTHORITARIAN DICTATOR. REAL PATRIOTS, THE PEOPLE THAT TRULY LOVE AMERICA AND THE IDEALS FOR WHICH IT STANDS, WILL NOT BE SILENT IN THE FACE OF TRUMP'S TYRANNY. WE WILL RESIST AND FIGHT BACK BY ANY PEACEFUL AND LAWFUL MEANS NECESSARY.
PROTEST DETAILS for Saturday, October 18th
There will be a large No Kings rally/protest at the Civic Center in San Rafael, with smaller protests in various local Marin communities. All Marin location protest details can be found at: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/?tag_ids=27849
For those not attending the large rally in San Rafael and wishing to protest locally in Corte Madera:
~10:00 AM: Welcome and brief solidarity meet and greet behind the Corte Madera Town Park Community Center
~10:15’ish AM: protesters will march down to the protest site at the Tamalpais Drive/Madera Boulevard intersection
~10:15’ish AM: seniors and people with mobility challenges who do not wish to walk to the main intersection are encouraged to protest at the Tamalpais/Eastman intersection outside Cafe Verde and the Community Center. This location is close to public restrooms, has shaded areas to sit in, and is near Cafe Verde for refreshments.
Please note: pursuant to an agreement I made with Central Marin Police Chief Norton we do not encourage and will not organize protesters on the Tamalpais/101 overpass because this location risks causing distraction to drivers on the 101, disrupts pedestrians crossing the overpass and risks injury to protesters because the footpath is very narrow, I will, however, be hanging large NO KINGS and YES ON PROP 50 banners on the overpass fence prior to the protest. If anyone has a large lettered banner they wish to hang please contact me.
As always this is a peaceful and respectful protest. As these are sidewalk protests participants should please exercise caution when crossing roadways and intersections and avoid blocking private and business entrances and exist. Participants assume full responsibility for their own safety and actions.
Please be reminded that sidewalk protests are not safe for very young children and dogs and parents of either are encouraged to use the Eastman intersection/Town Park border area to protest if they want to bring young children and dogs.
For those wishing to register, which is entirely optional, see: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/?tag_ids=27849
Please make time to attend a protest on the 18th - recent events make our collective action more important than ever. If you do attend please take photos/videos and send any good ones to me to upload to the national media distribution network.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
BRING YOUR SIGNS AND SPREAD THE WORD! Hope to see you on the 18th.
In solidarity,
Anita Bock, Organizer
